Audiences for Contemporary Dance
ACE funded Audiences London to analyse audience data collected through our Snapshot: Performing Arts service to help understand audiences for contemporaray dance in London.
Following on from research we did on contemporary dance in 2006, this project is trying to establish what audiences for contemporarary dance look like in terms of their demographic profile and their attendance behaviour patterns. It also includes some specific research into South Asian dance audiences.
The research seeks to answer questions 2 key questions:
Are dance audiences unique to dance programming or do they also crossover with other venues and artforms?
Is there a discrete audience for South Asian dance in particular?
A report on our findings will be published in April 2012.
