By the end of the seminar, you will be able to:
- describe the difference between research approaches, eg qualitative, quantitative, monitoring, evaluation, consultation
- decide when different approaches may be appropriate
- use a diagnostic tool that will make sure that your research questions will align with your organisation's objectives, resulting in information you can use and implement
- assess whether your organisation has the necessary skills and resources to undertake research, or whether to commission all or parts of the research
- identify the key elements of a research brief
- feel confident about discussing potential research with external suppliers
- identify important elements in gaining organisational buy-in for research projects
This session is designed to be useful if you have responsibility for research and are thinking about commissioning some, and invaluable if you are considering undertaking some research in-house.
